Memories Memories
Did you know all candles have memories? Yes you heard that correct a candle does in fact have a memory. You ask why and how? Well the answer is when you burn a candle for the first time and extinguish it before the whole surface area has melted, what will happen is from that point on, the candle will remember where it stopped melting and will only re-melt back to the same point the next time you burn your candle, leaving a coating of unusable wax along the inside of the vessel. This is called tunneling. The reason it’s called tunneling is because it looks like a tunnel has formed down the centre of the candle.
What can you do to prevent this from happening? Simply make sure you always burn your candle for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours to ensure an even burn every time you light your candle. Also make sure your wick has been trimmed to 5mm before you light your candle.
